51 Buckingham Gate.

This week I spent a night at 51 Buckingham gate as a treat for finishing university!
The hotel is just off a road by Buckingham Palace, tucked away from the main road and set back into it's own beautiful courtyard.

We checked in and to our delight we were upgraded from a one bedroom suite to a two bedroom suite.

We were taken up to our suite on the fourth floor and it was so spacious! we had an entryway which each of the rooms stemmed off from. There was a seating area, with a desk area. As well as a fully equipped kitchen and dining area.

The master bedroom was huge with an en-suite and the second bedroom was still large and there was also another bathroom.

There were chocolates on arrival with a card congratulating me on finishing uni and wishing us a pleasant stay, a nice touch. (Even the shell was white chocolate).

We were then invited down to the library for complimentary drinks and canapes.

After this we went to choose a DVD from the hotel's extensive collection of 500 plus DVDs
unfortunately we couldn't get the DVD player to work so we didn't end up watching it and had an early night. Before arriving at the hotel a week before we got an email asking for our pillow preference. I chose Ploh, I luxury white goose down pillow. I really want this kind of bedding at home but it's way on the pricey side!

Night mum!

In the morning I padded into the kitchen and made myself a coffee returned to bed and watched some TV. I then had a shower using all the gorgeous Molton Brown products, my favorite.

We then headed back down to the library for breakfast. We started with some fresh juice, orange for me grapefruit for mum. A basket of pastries was also bought to the table. They were so nice, not at all greasy like some pastry can be.

I then had a yoghurt and mum had some fresh berries. There was also mini packets of Dorset cereals on offer. From the hot menu I ordered pancakes with crispy bacon and maple syrup and mum had the full English. The pancakes were the best I've ever had! We also had some toast which was nice but bizarrely thin! I then had a hot chocolate and mum had tea.

We headed back up to the room to pack up our things, checked out and headed to Kensington Roof Gardens. I love it here, you take the lift up six floors off Kensington High Street and are transported to beautiful gardens. We sat for a while enjoying the sunshine and then headed off in search of ducklings and flamingos.

After our walk around the gardens we headed up to the balcony and had a cocktail at the bar.

We then headed off to Kensington Palace, the gardens here are perfect for sitting and enjoying the sunshine. Who wouldn't want to sit in Wills, Kate and Harry's back garden after all.

After sitting there for a while we headed to Somerset house to sit some more in the sunshine before our reservation at STK, review here

I really recommend 51 Buckingham Gate the feeling of space at a London hotel is rare and this place had a lot of space! The courtyard was beautiful and all the staff were charming. It is easy to see why it is rated so highly on TripAdvisor.

These three places (Roof gardens, Somerset House and Kensington Palace gardens) are my favorite places in London when the weather is nice and all are free! The time goes so much quicker when the weather is nice and this was the perfect way to spend the day relaxing and people watching.
