Chocolate Truffles.

These are so simple yet impressive, they are also hugely customisable. I've just made the basic recipe but you could add all sorts to the outside of the truffle.


To make around 20 you will need:
300ml Double Cream.
300g Dark Chocolate.
2 tablespoons Salted Butter.

Break up the chocolate up into cubes.


Then start to heat the cream on a low heat until it starts to steam. 


At this point add the butter and keep stiring until the butter has melted and reduce the heat to low. 


Add a couple of cubes of chocolate to the cream and stir it in until it has melted do this slowly otherwise the mixture might split!


Keep adding the chocolate a few cubes at a time until the mix gets darker...


And darker. Once all the chocolate is in the mix it should be thick and glossy. 


Pour this into a bowl, then lick the bowl and spoon. Put in the fridge to set for at least a couple of hours. 


Take the truffle mix out the fridge and then put some cocoa powder on a plate to roll your truffles in. 


Spoon out little hunks of chocolate and then roll it in the cocoa powder. 




Put them on a plate and place in the fridge for another half hour and then they are ready to eat.

Flesh and Buns.

Flesh and Buns is located in Covent Garden. it's a Japanese spot that's great for lunch and you can book, none of this queuing lark for me thanks. 



I had a raspberry and pineapple cobbler, delicious, does not taste like alcohol at all bonus for me!


To start with we had the grilled sweet corn with chilli and lime butter so good, think I might do a salad at home with corn like this in it? I also liked how the sections were cut, it was much more manageable. 


Also as a starter we had the prawn tempura roll... don't bother it was disappointing if you want your tempura fix head to sticks and sushi. 


Now the reason we are here the flesh and buns. We went for pork belly and two buns each.


Load up your sweet and sticky bun with super soft pork and crispy crackling add some sauce and apple and tuck in. These were so filling I can eat but after one of these I couldn't manage another.


However I still had room for pudding! We got the S'mores to share. They bring you over your own little fire pit, marshmallows, biscuits and green chocolate...


You can then toast your own marshmallow and build your own S'more. 


Affirming there is always room in my stomach for the sweet stuff! 


Flesh and Buns is definitely a lunch spot in my eyes or for a causal dinner before heading off somewhere else.

Breakfast at Bill's.

Went to Bill's for a quick breakfast, I've been for dinner a couple of times so going for breakfast was a nice change. I love the relaxed interior of Bill's, so well thought out that it just seems thrown together. 



I had a mocha, Mum had a pot of tea. 



A massive pot of tea! 



For breakfast I had pancakes with fruit, Mum had toast... that doesn't need a photo. 
Really tasty and quick service, much better than a muffin from a packed out Starbucks.

Two Litres A Day.

At school I would probably drink one glass of water with lunch and that would be it until I got home... bad I know but I never used to feel thirsty so just never bothered.


At college diet coke found me and I just started drinking more and more of it, this continued through uni too.
So 180 days ago I gave up fizzy drinks... there have been two relapses during this time one was New Year's Day and that diet coke was amazing don't regret it for a minute! But other than that I really don't miss it.


This has made me drink so much more water it's pretty much all I drink now as I have also tried to cut out caffeine and now only have around one coffee a week.

I now try and make sure I drink two litres a day just by having a bottle of water with me all the time. If there is water around I will drink it, but if I don't have a bottle with me I don't really think to drink. This is my biggest tip if you are trying to drink more water.


My other tips are:
Always order a jug of water for the table when you eat out, if it's there you will drink it.

Aim to drink one litre before lunch and then one after this gives you a target and helps you know how much you are drinking.

Keep a bottle of water in the fridge it tastes better I think. 

I don't know if I have noticed the health benefits of drinking more water, as I have been trying to lead a healthier lifestyle in general so I think for me it is a combination of things.
But I have noticed now I get thirsty which never used to happen which I think shows just how dehydrated I used to be.
